K: what is ‘cooking’?
Me: getting food ready is cooking. Like Rekha didi cooks for us on Sundays.
K: do you cook?
Me, now in no position to backtrack: Yes. I cook.
K: do you cook on Mondays? Tuesdays?
Me: uhhh yeaa… I definitely cook on Saturdays. I cook khichdi for you. And paranthas. And (finding rhythm) idlis and dosas. And when Rekha didi isn’t around, I make rajma and chhole too.
K, now convinced by my increasing conviction moves on by giving me a kiss.
Phew!
